Web5 Oct 2011 · Open the hatch, then take off the big interior trim piece that covers the hatch. You'll see two nuts holding the handle in place. Take those off, release the cable that the handle pulls on, and I think it'll be free. (There might be one or two other things holding it in place, but I can't remember for sure.)

Take off the cover. There's two sets of wires going to connectors on the latch mechanism. Remove the two connectors, and then see if the "hatch open" warning light goes out.
